JOB SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Engineer will provide engineering support for the operational issues pertaining to the production of a full line of surgical positioning products, in a Class 1 FDA regulated environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Train assemblers how to build product, using work instructions and Bill of Material information.
  • Use mechanical engineering skills to support the complete manufacturing process. Including External Vendor support.
  • Develop solutions for assembly and design problems.
  • Initiate, Prepare and complete Engineering Change Orders.
  • Produce fixtures and gauges.
  • Conduct and document engineering investigations and tests.
  • Prepare Engineering Documentation – Drawings, Models, BOM’s, etc.
  • Participate in activities related to NCMR, inspection and complaint evaluation.
  • Update the manufacturing staff as needed on any ECO’s or other changes that may affect products being manufactured on the floor.
  • Participate in Cost Reduction Activities and product redesigns
  • Participate in NPD teams to insure Manufacturability of products and successful transfer to manufacturing through validation testing.

  • Job Requirements and Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Required

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent
  • 8 - 10 years of industry and/or hands on high level mechanical assembly experience.
  • Innate mechanical engineering skills and hands on mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to use computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes and ACCPAC to accomplish specific tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in the English language.
  • Evidence of job stability including excellent attendance record.
  • 3 – 5 Years hands on experience with Solid Works.

    Preferred

  • Continuous Improvement experience including Kaizen training.
  • Mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience with at least a class 1 Medical Device manufacturer.
  • Knowledge of mechanical assembly techniques, machine shop (milling and turning), metal tube bending, welding, aluminum extrusions, rotational molding, metal casting and plastic injection molding.
  • An individual who has a high level of Safety Awareness
